Music Programs
CO-CURRICULAR
SCBC ensembles will begin in Week 2 of Term 1 and run for the entirety of 2026. The program will feature students from Years 7–12, with weekly rehearsals led by our fantastic music tutors and musicians. There will also be a year 5-6 ensemble. These rehearsals will prepare students for large showcase events such as Surge and Riptide, as well as other performance opportunities. The focus will likely be on contemporary music, ensuring a strong integration with our Vocal Academy. Rehearsals will be held on one afternoon each week from 3:10 pm to 4:10 pm.
Program Fees
Participation in SCBC’s ensemble program will cost $350 for the year. This fee ensures we can provide high-quality staff to run rehearsals. The annual fee covers:
- Weekly one-hour specialised band tuition and instruction
- Individual performance training and feedback specific to ensembles
- Performance opportunities throughout the year
- Showcase performances at the College and local events
- Musical instrument provision, use, and maintenance
Auditions for bands are held in Term 4 the prior year. Please register an Expression of Interest via the form below. Audition requirements will be communicated to all interested students.
SCBC’s Instrumental Music Tuition program offers students from Years 4 to 12 the opportunity to develop their musical skills through personalised training with seasoned musicians. Aligned with our Specialist Music Programs, students can enrol in weekly lessons in one of the following instruments:
- Piano
- Bass Guitar
- Electric Guitar
- Acoustic Guitar
- Drum Set
- Voice
Lessons are delivered by experienced, industry-based tutors who are passionate about inspiring young musicians. Each student receives one-on-one tuition tailored to their level and musical interests, helping them grow in confidence and technical skill.
Students also have the opportunity to audition for tutor-led ensembles, which provide valuable experience in collaboration and live performance. These ensembles regularly perform at school concerts, assemblies, and community events.
In line with our College values, the program encourages students not only to pursue musical excellence but also to use their gifts in service to others, contributing meaningfully to the life of the school and wider community.
