Principal's Welcome
I would like to extend to you a warm welcome to South Coast Baptist College.
We are a dynamic and growing co-educational Christian community, catering to students from 6 months old in Childcare through to Year 12. My SCBC experience began in 2007 when I had the privilege of joining as the Head of Junior School (Years 1 to 5). I have been the Head of Primary since 2009 and have recently been appointed Acting Principal of the College. Over my past 16 years at South Coast, it has grown significantly in size, though it still maintains its uniquely welcoming, safe, and nurturing focus. Over my time here, I have enjoyed the privilege of seeing children of Childcare make their way through the entire learning journey to Year 12 graduation and moving on to their post-school destinations.
The College has enjoyed strong academic success and has successfully aligned itself with an excellent range of specialist programs. Our $45 million dollar program is underway as we upgrade and redevelop our facilities to offer educational opportunities that will prepare our students for their futures. We teach our students to think creatively, develop new products and services, new jobs, new processes and methods, and new ways of thinking and employ Project based learning opportunities from Childcare to Year 12.
SCBC’s most noticeable strength is its community – each student is connected and valued
There is a thriving sense of energy at SCBC; people notice it when they step onto the College grounds. An enormous part of that is our staff. Each makes a conscious effort to model healthy, authentic, Christ-centred relationships with each other and students and their families. Our teachers are committed to delivering quality education in dynamic, engaging learning environments. They each have a genuine Christian faith and embody compassion and service in the school and wider community.
Our mission statement — Rigorous Minds, Compassionate Hearts — speaks to our dedication to shaping character as we normalise striving for excellence in life, at school and beyond.
We wish to see our students grow and develop their understanding of our four key values – Love, Hope, Wisdom, and Grit. These values are embedded in our culture and aligned with our College House System.
We want to see every child succeed in their areas of strength and interest, being the first choice for University, TAFE, apprenticeships and ultimately employment in their field of preference.
The earlier that process starts, the better. So, if you're seeking every opportunity to explore and hone your child’s unique gifts, chances are, SCBC is a good fit for your family.
