Year 8 STEM – Robotics

_MG_2756lowres

In term 4, year 8 students in STEM – Robotics have been learning to independently solve problems through the construction of a simple remote-controlled vehicle.  Students are provided with the components required for the vehicle and, after being taught the basics of Fusion 360, an industry standard CAD package, students design and then laser-cut a chassis from acrylic plastic.  The project builds student’s confidence in solving problems in a practical manner and teaches them to appreciate the importance of understanding a task before beginning.  For many students, seeing their digital drawing being made into a physical object, then adding to this to create an animate machine, greatly builds their passion for engineering.
